Minister sought for the Swedish Church's Finland-Swedish work in Örebro

Our minister in the Finland-Swedish work has embarked on new adventures, and we are looking for a new minister at 100%.

The Sweden Church's Finland-Swedish work in Örebro encompasses the entire parish but is physically located in Mikael's congregation. Many Finland-Swedes come here regularly for both Finnish-speaking and bilingual services, as well as a wide range of activities for all ages. In the community, there is a longing for the priest's presence and for deepening. The Finland-Swedish team consists of a priest, a deacon assistant, and an administrator, but is also part of the work team in Mikael's congregation.

Job Responsibilities:

As a priest in Örebro parish's Finland-Swedish activities, you will celebrate mass regularly, both in Finnish and Swedish. In the Finland-Swedish work, you will be responsible for services, church actions, pastoral care, teaching, services in nursing homes, and devotions in various contexts. We hope you feel comfortable working with both the elderly and with children and their families.

The position also includes a lot of networking with the congregations in the parish, with other Finland-Swedish associations, as well as with the municipality and region, as Örebro County is a Finland-Swedish administrative area. An important part is to work for cooperation and integration between the Finland-Swedish community and the Swedish-speaking congregation.

As a priest in Örebro parish, you will also be part of common vacation schedules and are expected to hold Swedish-speaking church actions and services in our various churches, as well as participate in parish-wide activities. There is room in the position to develop what you are passionate about.

We are looking for someone who is ordained as a priest and who:

  • Has good knowledge of both Finnish and Swedish, written and spoken.
  • Feels at home in Finnish culture and Finnish traditions.
  • Has an easy time collaborating, cooperating, and building relationships.
  • Has a diaconal approach.
  • Is flexible, creative, and shares our longing for community and deepening.
  • Appreciates working with others but can also work independently and take initiative.

This is us!

Mikael's congregation is located in the western parts of Örebro, where there is a broad religious, cultural, and linguistic diversity. The congregation is characterized by an open and welcoming atmosphere, with many engaged and wonderful communities both on Sundays and weekdays. Mikael's congregation is a present and living church that, with baptism as its foundation, wants to carry Christ's love and hope to the world. Many of Örebro's Finland-Swedes gather here for everyday life and celebration.

In Örebro parish, there are about 8500 Finland-Swedes. The Swedish Church in Örebro consists of eight congregations with a rich and varied congregational life. We have a joint office and cemetery administration. In addition, there is the Solliden conference center and individual and family counseling. We are a force that people count on, a strong and sought-after community actor in Örebro and Lekeberg. We are located in a vibrant and growing part of Sweden, with good living opportunities for all ages and interests.

We work from the conviction that we become better together in our common mission to be a church. Sustainable development is important to us: economic, ecological, spiritual, and social. We are driven by visionary leadership, which includes both employees and elected representatives. We want to continue to be a strong church moving into the future.

What we can offer!
